Calling Out South African Ex Pats, P.S., P.P.S.

March 26, 2018

South Africa is perched on one of the most precarious multi-cultural experiments of all time: where the Black majority (I can\’t call them a hegemony — as \’economic apartheid\’ still persists) could possible overwhelm White, Chinese, Indian and Mixed Race South Africans and re-create Zimbabwe (know once as \’southern\’ Rhodesia).

I had hoped that Cyril Ramaphosa, reportedly Mandela\’s hand-picked successor, would bring a more enlightened governing perspective than his predecessor (or Julius Malema for that matter); after all, apartheid has been gone for about 24 years (more than half of its 47-year- tenure).  But it seems that Ramaphosa has fallen into a pre-election funk and not stopping the old rallying call of: \”Kill the Boers\”!

I\’ve got it on good accord — that even Zimbabwe and Zambia (formerly Northern Rhodesia) are begging their White farmers (those who weren\’t killed) — to come back to solve the food shortages that these two nations face, and, that South Africa will almost certainly face should the massacre of White farmers continue.

The only way I can think of solving this brutality is: a massive infusion of money into building a stronger national police force and military to maintain-the-peace.  These monies would also go a long way to solving the current unemployment problem and quite possibly assist in growing the Black Middle Class.

I don\’t feel badly \”calling out\” South African Ex Pats to help out their Motherland — as I know that each-of-You I will name below — has made his/her fortune outside of South Africa (Roger Federer excepted); and some of you are already contributing mightily — but you\’ve got to keep helping the Motherland to become safe to do business in…if it is to survive as the healthiest economy in Africa.

And that means diverting funds to police academies and the military: We know the dollar goes a looonnnng way in S.A….Roll Call:

Trevor Noah: You have the greatest bully pulpit of all as the anchor of The Daily Show.  And I know you still go back to do shows in S.A. (and probably donate in ways I am not aware of) — but I encourage you to use your forum (perhaps by bringing in the 6 that I mention below) and talk about how the greatest experiment in achieving a multi-color democracy might be assisted!

Elon Musk: One billion of your estimated $55 billion upcoming bonus would add up to…let\’s see — at today\’s exchange rate of R11.74-to-the-dollar — a shit load of money to be pumped into the S. African military!  Recall, this is the same military you \”escaped\” from doing duty in — using Mum\’s Canadian citizenship: That same military that protected American oil wells and the Southern seaways for years…

Charlize Theron: Yes, Charlize, I know you\’ve experienced your share of personal tragedy — and that your father was a violent drunk — but that is no reason (if rumors be true) for you to fund Julius Malema.  I\’m asking you (in particular) to find the arenas to better put your money to work…

Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong: Reportedly richest man in L.A. and new owner of my beloved Times is a Port Elizabeth lad!  I know you had to go to the Chinese school in P.E. — and I know you received a superior education there (I may even have met you when the Grey Student Council interfaced with yours).  I\’m hoping that that S. African education provided the scholarly base for you to become the entrepreneur you are; and, that you don\’t let the apartheid experience blind you to S. Africa\’s needs.  Don\’t forget Christian Barnard!

Dave Matthews: I\’ve called you out before, Dave, and since then I\’ve heard that you have a number of charitable projects in S.A.  But now the homeland of your rhythms requires even more from you!  Since You were also able to avoid military service (like Elon Musk and myself) — it\’s time to give back to the origin of your rhythms!  Johnny Clegg still lives in S.A.!

Trevor Rabin: Trevor — you have made great music all-of-your-life: many-of-us enjoyed Rabbit during your Joburg days!  Members of Freedom\’s Children and Hawk (blacklisted-in-the-day) still live in-and-around-Joburg.  Help keep it safe for all!

Roger Federer: You are not S. African born, Roger — but your mother is a P.E. girl and went to Victoria Park H.S.  I know that you too — probably because of your mother — have charities going in S.A.  I\’m asking you to protect these institutions with a stronger police presence.

Come on Ex Pats!  Cry the Beloved Country! And if not for the country — what about doing it for Sudan?!  The last of the male White Rhinos…

P.S. I forgot golfer, Ernie Els! Thanks to Johnny D for reminding me.  I believe I forgot about South African golfers because I\’m not much of a golfing fan.  But if Ernie wants to see ongoing international tournaments in S. Africa — he would also do well to contributing a few dollars to the cause!

P.P.S. During the 2010 World Cup — South Africa trained 150,000 new police officers who, I thought, would stay on with the windfall of the World Cup.  Alas FIFA absconds with all-the-profits and leaves the host country high-and-dry…but these 150,000 extra policeman helped facilitate a phenomenal World Cup!
