…they pull me back in!
I keep wanting to write about something trite — like TV sex (Giti and I have been watching alotta Aussie and German TV shows in addition to some historical stuff on Netflix).
It seems like no one worries about foreplay anymore — all the sex scenes go down like the Patrick Swayze and Kelly Preston scene in Roadhouse — where the guy has a full-on erection and the woman is as-wet-as-wet-can-get: both dynamics occurring without! And then they knock it out against a wall — where it seems like HE is supporting HER in mid air — with his penis.
I DID try this method, once (many-many-years-ago), and it proved to be a strain on all required muscles.
Sex Manners for Men preached the importance of foreplay — and slowly turning-up-the-heat for the thunderous climax. Masters & Johnson discovered that the average male takes about 2-and-a-half minutes to orgasm after being aroused — while the average woman takes 8-minutes-or-more. I\’m not sure how the timing comes together up-against-the-wall…research that I never dared to attempt after that single instance…
Be-this-as-it-may — like Michael Corleone getting \”pulled back\” each time he tries to leave the family business — I can\’t seem to leave the socio-political arena — as something \”crazy new\” (not to forget the \’crazy old\’) is put out for US to chew-the-cud-on each-and-every-day.
And my apologies for drifting from my purported California focus in recent attempts…
So, while I find Kamala Harris to be quite the hot tamale and intelligent and well spoken — I\’m not sure if she has accomplished anything in politics that would want me to cast a presidential vote for her.
I\’m glad Eric Garcetti — our wonderful L.A. mayor — has decided NOT to throw his hat into the Democratic Hopefuls ring — as he can\’t even get potholes repaired; or, find a solution to our homeless problem. My beloved Times published an editorial last year that reported that the city had $900 million dedicated to combating homelessness; yet the sum \”sits\” because \”they\” don\’t know how to spend it!? If Eric can take care of potholes and homelessness then I will vote for him in 2028 (if I\’m still alive).
I did hear rumors that Eric helped mediate the L.A. Teachers\’ Strike — and if he did — that\’s another-feather-in-his-cap .
Speaking of the Teachers\’ Strike — as a former LAUSD teacher — I was (of course) sympathetic to the cause (particularly because the weather was so prohibitive [just like the superintendent]).
But the stopgap measures agreed upon will not stop the problems.
Student enrollment is declining and the adversarial relationship between administrators and teachers remains. (What a great inter-relationship model for children!)
For a Learning Community to be successful — all shareholders (parents and vendors included) have to strive for the same goal: producing human beings capable of grappling with the challenges of the future by supporting each other — not fighting each other!
Divide the LAUSD up into 6-7 sections. So what if certain capitalists get less ADA as a result — education should never be treated like a business!
But because those forces wishing to privatize education (like our prison system) are still hard at work I always remind my teachers-(and itinerant-staff) to-be that the LAUSD is not the only game in town — unless it keeps pulling you back…
