I always have these great ideas for topics to write on during the week – and when it comes time to sit down to write about them – I’ve quite forgotten them. Call it CRAFT (Can’t Remember A Fucking Thing) or CRS (Can’t Remember Shit), or Alzheimers, but I’m not sure why I get these mental blocks.
I often think my Mother is developing Alzheimers – because she tends to ask me the same questions 2-or-3 times during our phone conversations – but this might be the usual short-term memory loss that comes with aging: she still insists that she remembers my life much better than I do – but that could be a Mother thang. I’ve also heard that folks who lead active and stimulating lives tend to stave off the condition (which makes a great deal of sense to me) – as my folks do lead such lives. Perhaps I’m not active enough? Though Girlfriend Giti loves to torture me on our hilltop walks.
I wanted to complain more about asshole drivers out on the road – like I did in “Short Circuit” – suffice to say I think the situation gets worse by the day. I want to commend Tami A. for flexing her writing muscles once again. I wanted to be sad for the fate of Circuit City – I really liked Circuit City. And I definitely want to write some more about Obama – but I will devote the entire next article to him (if I can). And I certainly wonder what will befall the Big 3…Ford looks like it will survive – but what about Generous Motors and Chrysler? For sure we got some union busting going on – and I worry when THEY — will go after the teacher unions. I certainly understand what has happened to the Big 3 (and I have outlined this in ‘Meeshigun’). Good ol’ Clint seems to understand what happened in Detroit as well (if ‘Gran Torino’ is as deep as some critics suggest it is). So why do I think Big Oil stabbed the Big Three in-the-back?
Will unemployment reach 15%? Will it go higher?? Remember, only the illusion of credit keeps this depression looking like a recession.
I asked my folks to talk to some of their retirement community members to see if they knew of anyone selling an RV for $25,000 or less. I guess folks in Florida found my figure to be quite humorous. But one CAN find this-type-of-deal in California – so I guess I’ll keep my money here. And as all-of-us Cali-folk know – everything happens in Cali first. And our unemployment is pushing 10%. We probably need the Queen (of England) to step in and help us out-a-bit. England is heavily invested with us. As are Japan and China. Arnold doesn’t look like he will solve our problem – my beloved Times ran an article today that suggested Arnie takes good care of his friends, however, like most politicians I guess.
I seem to remember to remember a couple-of-years of budget surpluses when we Californians got some money back from the State. But what do I know – my Mother tells me that I have a terrible memory…
