Yet Another US Massacre

June 20, 2015
I had to post an acknowledgement to the victims and their families of the recent Charleston church massacre before publishing anything flippant or irreverent.
I don\’t know when these tragedies will stop…if ever…
It seems that all of the variables pursuant to understanding and preventing these tragedies are on the table — but the status quo remains: on the average, we can expect an US massacre every-68-days-or-so (at least that\’s what the research indicates) and the casualties for these mass shootings are also quite frightening…
The only solutions to gun violence that have ever made sense to me would be (1) a multi-million dollar fine on the manufacturer of the gun that takes the life; and (2) if this didn\’t work at keeping guns out of the hands of the general public, then make guns and ammunition so expensive that only the military, the police (we might actually kill 2 birds with one stone on this one) and the ultra-rich can afford them.
Then when a civil crime is committed with one-or-more such guns — we know where they came from.
Of course, there would have to be a compulsory buy-back by the gun manufacturers for all of US owning their guns. I would certainly give mine up if everyone else had to.
If you read this little acknowledgement to all those lives senselessly lost — please put your heart and mind to work at solving this horrific US social problem.
