When Obama looked like he was on the winning track for his first term as President — I warned him to get out of the race — lest a lone, crazed gunman should end his life (being of mixed race but still looking Black). I didn\’t think White America and those-powers-that-be were ready for him (like I\’m pretty sure US is not yet ready for a gay president). Little did I know that Obama was already quite comfortable with the status quo, and, wasn\’t about to \”shake-up\” the-powers-that-be!
I had the same worry for Bernie — who definitely wants to shake up the establishment!
But I need worry no longer — as Uncle Joe is headed towards the Democratic nomination. My only worry with this scenario is: that Bernie supporters may cast their protest votes for Trump — even if Bernie stumps for Ol\’ Joe and begs his supporters to vote for the old codger! It seems that Bernie is even willing to help Uncle Joe out — by giving Uncle Joe the questions he will ask him on Sunday — in advance. (So Uncle Joe\’s \’people\’ can prepare him to look good in front of Bernie\’s people!) Or, to set Uncle Joe up for a zinger-or-two?!
45% of eligible voters did not vote in 2016. This percentage could translate to 45 million voting- eligible Americans! And only 19% of the youth in that 45 million bothered to vote the last time — but I think Bernie has been rousting this sleeping giant!
But Uncle Joe might provide that rallying point for a divided nation — much like the Uncle Sam poster did in WWI! And don\’t let me downplay the fight we are in to save our country and our world!! Uncle Joe needs to pick an Amy Klobuchar as a running mate — to take the reins when his senility catches up to him! She\’s a wholesome, Mom-next-door type — who can actually speak in complete and relatively articulate sentences!
There is a glimmer of hope.
Another glimmer might be provided by the strange (and almost unholy) trio of Kasich, Kerry & Schwarzenegger — who have begun a coalition to save the Earth and are allegedly not about any agenda (other than saving the Earth). Yet saving the Earth is in exact opposition to The Donald — who is doing his level best to destroy It!
Arnold (meet me on the staircase) never did succeed in cleaning up the radiation contamination on the nearby Santa Susanna Mts. when he was governor of California — one wonders what kind of \”juice\” he still has left. We all know that John Kerry crumbles if he is swift-boated (I often think he would have made a damned good president) — and Kasich, well, I don\’t know much about him — except to say that he\’s a rah rah kinda guy — who can be swept up by his own exuberance.
Still, the fact that they have assembled quite a large team (including military personnel) offers us a glimmer of hope that we will have a-change-for-the-better in 2021!
I am very perturbed that Chief Justice Roberts so publically displays his partisanship…
