Out of the Frying Pan…

…and onto scorched earth!

Make America great again, again?  It\’s never been worse for Americans!  And like frogs or crabs being boiled — US don\’t feel our imminent demise.  As a parboiled nation (which once had global influence) — we had better prepare ourselves for a new world reserve currency.

I know we still have the strongest military — but globalization of economies is here to stay — and the next world war will be fought with decimal points and commas. Meanwhile, the Chinese have not been sitting around idly during our partisan squabbling…

In my last attempt — I compared racists to rattlesnakes — but the tableau I set in this attempt is: to compare the Trump withdrawal from the White House to scorching the earth. I find it a fitting analogy.

In case any of my readers are confused about the reference, \”scorched earth,\” allow me a quick (paraphrased) definition: Scorched Earth is that endeavor to leave an advancing army without food, shelter or roads — as the defending army (Trump and his cronies) goes on the retreat. As the defending army retreats, they burn all-of-their-crops so that the advancing army (Biden & Co.) will not have the \”host\” country\’s food available to sustain them when they eventually run out of their own food supplies.  When the attacking army is forced to retreat (usually starving to death) is when the defending army attacks.  This defensive stratagem was made famous by the Russians (against Napoleon and Hitler) — but not necessarily developed by the Russians.  In fact, the practice of \”scorching the earth\” dates back to antiquity.

Simply put — scorching the earth allows the country (or army) to pull out some form of a victory in the face of an almost certain defeat.  And this is precisely what is happening with Trump in his waning days: he is still trying to turn his defeat into a victory by making it as-difficult-as-possible for the incoming Biden administration (the attacking force) to function.

Whoops!  I almost forgot the collateral damage that accompanies the scorched earth program — and the harm it can inflict on the \”host\” citizenry…

I forgot to mention that the people of the country being attacked (in this case the American citizenry) can end up sharing the same fate as the attacking army — to the point that the Geneva Convention of 1977 outlawed utilizing scorched earth policy for future conflagrations (because too many innocents had become collateral damage in the practice).

And while I agree with Trump that a $600.00 stimulus check to individual Americans as COVID Relief is a joke — I think it\’s taken him a bit too long to enter the fray!

I think He welcomed a government shutdown: A government shutdown would have further complicated Biden\’s \”attack.\”  (You can plot many things on the golf course and not have to worry about scorched earth amidst the greenery.)

Trump might actually enjoy the US citizenry becoming incensed with the disappearance of unemployment benefits (narcissist that he is) — which he would readily blame on the Democrats.  Even though Democrats agree with Him, his base doesn\’t recognize this.

California is finally getting its first big rain of the season which will hopefully assuage our scorched earth.  With the Feds owning 48% of our forests — you\’d think they might help us more with these fires — since our $2.6 Trillion GNP (fifth largest in the world [with US being the largest {maybe}]) subsidizes many-a-confederate state.

A baptism is in order — bring on those healing rains…
