I’m trying to get this all straight in my head – but I’m not sure that I can ever do it…the U.S. military is complaining that Iran is threatening the stability of Iraq…I, I, ai, ai, yai, yai, yai! We went into Iraq to collect those weapons of mass destruction – I thought that the chemical weapons we gave to Iraq to use against Iran were all used up when Saddam employed them against Iran (when Saddam was our bud) – and oh, oh, oh – whatever happened to poor Ollie North and Iran Gate?! Let’s face it – if U want to buddy up with the U.S. – sooner-or-later, U gonna be Shot fulla holes, or hung.
Only the New Romans – hell-bent on world conquest — would manifest the ethnocentric conceit of occupying one country while threatening a neighboring country that they’re next. I believe that the only current country that could ever please the New Romans – would be France – a country willing to roll over with their asses in the air for just about anybody moving in. Did Nero really let Rome burn to ferret out those rowdy Christians?
All empires come to an end. All militaries become sufficiently diluted, depressed and fatigued to start “schacking up” with the locals. Constantine was absolutely brilliant when he created the Holy Roman Empire and juiced up the Roman ranks with those onward Christian soldiers. But I don’t see how Dubya can pull something of Constantine’s brilliance off! Even though we’ve heard the rhetoric that the U.S. could attack Iran (and Girlfriend Giti suggests many Iranians would do the French thang) – Rome is rapidly exhausting its supply of foot soldiers. The U.S. national consciousness should have finally reached a point that conscription simply won’t work (but who knows how a formerly first world country drags itself out of the muck-and-the-mire [is our Hitler waiting in the wings?]).
But Brother Paul has reminded me (again) how well I’ve done under the Dubya Regime…and, he’s right. Though I sarcastically replied to him this morning – I don’t know if I can continue attacking Dubya much longer – as I am reaping the benefits that Dubya has put into effect for America’s wealthy. And though I am far from wealthy, I guess there has been a trickle down effect: is it akin to Ronnie Reagan’s trickle down policy that finally took effect midway through the First Clinton Dynasty?
I guess I am feeling a bit uncomfortable being a New Roman. I STILL think it would be easiest to simply annex Canada – and rape, pillage and plunder THAT resource-rich country for another-century-or-so. I’m sick-and-tired of the oiligarchy that not only runs New Rome, but the world. Are the Mexicans “the barbarians at the gates”? If they are – I could certainly ease into that barbarian lifestyle. Good food, good grog and a Siesta instead of a crucifixion. How bad could looking through life with Corona-colored glasses be?
