Shame On You…

March 2, 2016

Jerry Brown!  I am so happy that Steve Lopez has made the firing of coastal commissioner, Dr. Charles Lester, and the non-intervention by our allegedly environment-minded governor an axe to grind!  No let up Steve!!  I\’ve shared your columns on this matter with my sociology students in-the-hopes-that more voices and word processors join yours in excoriating these \”French types,\” who, in the absence of Charles Lester, will just roll over for developers.

Could it be that Jerry is still rankled that his old squeeze, Linda Ronstadt, was denied building rights on the Pacific Coast some-years-back?  Or, did the Edge\’s new ocean view push Jerry over the edge to joining the Dark Side?!

Whatever, I don\’t think Jerry is the environmentally-friendly fellow who was voted in for a 4th term.  I think the lobbyists finally threw so much money at him that he\’s given up being California\’s Protector — what with the ill-conceived bullet train and all.  How crazy is that?  The bullet train has already gone over the original budget and probably won\’t be completed in time for a-third-of-us-alive right now to ever enjoy it!  Yep, ol\’ Jer\’s rapidly developing  senility is just the break the lobbyists needed to exploit Cali.

TWC and Dodger Ownership!  And while Steve Lopez now has a cause celebre, so too does Bill Plaschke, as he attempts to loosen the stranglehold that TWC and the Dodger ownership have on over two-thirds of Dodger fans — in this, Vin Scully\’s final year!

Are there no real baseball people in either TWC or the new Dodger owners?  Are there no O\’Malleys?

No let up on this one, Plasch — you are the voice of the city!  You represent the feelings of thousands!  Make it happen!  At least 2-columns-a-week should be devoted to this issue of corporate greed pissing on America\’s favorite past-time.

The Anaheim Constabulary! This might be the most amusing police situation we\’ve experienced in a while.  The Anaheim police seem to have gotten the time for the racist event wrong, or — the KKK started their event off a bit too early.  Here is the hilarious statement made by the Anaheim Police:

Wyatt (the police spokesperson) said that the protesters incited the violence (gosh, people are still protesting racism?). And then he went on to say: \”We had individuals who specifically came there to commit acts of violence, and there is nothing to do to stop that,\” he (Wyatt) said.

We are through the glass darkly folks — those who are hired (and have remarkable pensions under the aegis of protecting and serving) — can do nothing to stop violence.  They can only shoot unarmed Black Men full of holes…

Einstein said something about the world not being changed by men enacting evil, but rather, by those of US who stand around and watch them and do nothing.

When the Sheriffs called me the other day to ask for a donation — I rebuffed them, suggesting that I wished I had a pension fund like they do.  I hope my comment doesn\’t land me in hot water…
