A Time Warner Hostage

July 30, 2014

More-and-more of Los Angeles is getting fed up with Time Warner Cable and Los Angeles Dodger ownership: the longer the Dodger ownership allows TWC to “play” everyone – the less we will be good-natured towards either-of-them.

I know am arriving to this party a bit late – as I have TWC and have been enjoying my Dodgers and Vin (when they play in Cali and Arizona) – but since TWC recently increased my payment for the second time (to help pay for the Dodger deal) – I feel compelled to enter the fracas!

Since TWC isn’t getting the monies they want from other providers (most notably Direct TV) for SportsNetL.A. – faithful TWC patrons (like myself) get to pick up the tab for the big players; and, we are told that if we don’t take the deal they are offering us – the price for our monthly extortion will go up much more.  Wow!  Some contributors to my beloved Times have deemed this monopolizing; it feels more like racketeering to me: To wit, the Comcast customer who simply wanted to discontinue service and was abused by a Comcast associate!  Damn!!

I would quit TWC in a heartbeat if I could – but I can’t – because I live in a canyon!  Hell!!  One of the previous owners had a NASA-styled satellite dish that-took-up-half-the-backyard to get his satellite reception.  It took two days to break this dish down for scrap metal – which I’m sure made a pretty penny for my dismantler.  The last time I saw a satellite dish like the one in my backyard was at the Jewish Institute off of Mulholland Hwy.

So I remain stuck with TWC, and, have to bend over every time they feel-the-need to stick it up a little further: which reminds me of the time I thought I might make a little money with the Capital Gold Group…

I bought a chunk of gold when the spot price of gold per ounce was $1345 – unbeknownst to me, Capital Gold sold me shit coins for much more than that spot price per ounce.  I even told them that I wanted to buy gold bullion (which another dealer [post Capital Gold deal] said would have been the better way to go!).  Then, when the spot price of gold per ounce hit $1758 I asked to sell, thinking I’d make a tidy little profit for my kidz college education.  The bastards bought my gold back from me at the same price they sold it to me; even though the spot price had moved up by over $400?!!  The asshole representative even decided to screw me out of an extra $330 bucks right at the end of the deal.  Another gold rep told me to that I should be happy because it could have been even worse.  Fuck me…

To-this-day I don’t know how anybody makes any money on the New York Stock Exchange – except for the Big Boyz of course…

Speaking of Big Boyz, has the FCC, like the FTC, been sufficiently greased for the-rest-of-us to continue suffering without grease?  What is happening with our Boys in Blue is plain and simple prostitution: the Dodger product is so good, that even the poorest among us are willing to pay for a piece of that action – until the Pimp Daddy decides otherwise…
