AIG: The Perfect Insanity

November 11, 2014

On this day of solemn remembrance to those who gave their lives for people like Maurice Greenburg (of AIG), the exquisite irony of the American schizophrenia is again brought into sharp focus (at least for me).  Says John Stevenson in his letter to the L.A. Times (to which I totally agree):

It is as if a thief (Greenburg), having been cut out of the take by his partners

in crime, takes his case to court and asks to be made whole out of public funds.

The hubris!  The chutzpah!!  I am reminded of the LAUSD lawyer (recently terminated) who suggested that a 14-year-old girl could consent to having sex.  Obviously he didn\’t know that it takes us till the age of 24 (on average) to have both hemispheres of our brain fully connected. Since the female tends to be developmentally ahead of the male by about 2 years — we\’ll credit her with playing with a full deck at around age 23, and for the male, circa 25 — giving us an average age of 24 for the brain to be fully connect and for us to be able to make decisions utilizing a full deck.  So, how a 14-year-old gets to give legitimate consent to sex with her teacher (and I really wanted to throw a pathetic \’aside\’ here — but it would just make me out to be as big an idiot as the teacher and lawyer) is a non sequitur.

Speaking of playing with a \”full deck,\” Greenburg has got more than a full deck going for him — he\’s playing a-couple-of-Jokers in his hand as well.  And the scary thing about his lawsuit is that there are plenty of schizophrenic judges (and lawyers) who will frame this insanity as sanity — folks who will keep the bourgeoisie the bourgeoisie forever — and keep racking up that national debt forever — now that we know that there is no way to pay it off…

I just watched (and listened) to a fun video that termed these Wall Street types as banksters (a fun framing of \’gangsters\’).  I had truly hoped that the Wall Street protests would give these Orwellian Pigs a dose of reality — but no such luck: the protesters were effectively shut down so that business-as-business could resume with barely a hiccup.  And I was recently informed that many of the protesters didn\’t even know what they were doing there — besides enjoying a big communal camping experience — so there is no organized resistance to the machine…

…there are no more heroes.  No more Beowulfs.  No more Arthurs.  No more Lincolns or Teddy Roosevelts.  There simply isn\’t anyone with balls (or brass tits) big enough to rein in the Greed propagated by capitalism run amuck!  The Almighty Dollar is capable of buying us all off!  And I\’m still waiting for someone to make me an offer!

So I sit and wonder whether or not this Greenburg character will be able to buy himself the Perfect Storm of a judge and lawyers to get the the lil\’ ol tax payer (you and me) to continue funding his unbridled Greed.  Actually, this last sentiment flies in the face of my last article…in which I suggested that our dollars really don\’t have much to say about anything, as they are pretty much valueless.  So I guess we should be cheering old Greenburg on to see how effectively he can milk the system…after all, that\’s the American Way, isn\’t it?
