Bring Back the Pythons

January 26, 2017

After suspending Katie Rich for her tweet RE: Barron Trump, SNL has distinguished themselves as ineffectual and chicken shit purveyors of social criticism and social satire — it\’s time to bring back the hard-hitting Pythons…

For-those-of-you who don\’t know who or what I\’m talking about — Monty Python was a comedy troupe comprised of 5 Brits and an American: John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Graham Chapman (deceased) and Terry Gilliam (the lone American).  These lads were not afraid to satirize anyone (and often in bloody fashion).

Whether it was the Christian faith and Jesus or the Jewish faith and Brian or Americans or the French or the British or government or sex or organ donors — this crew went for the bollocks: They exercised their freedom of speech and never apologized for anything they said or performed; because like Geoffrey Chaucer, they recognized the follies and foibles inherent in-all-of-us.

SNL has essentially waved the white flag of surrender by suspending Katie Rich for her tweet on Barron Trump.  SNL will never regain their critical and satirical ground; and, will tread on egg shells from here-on-in for fear of being held to account by the Trump administration — because it appears that Ms. Rich threatened both a child and the Trump family.

A number of my educated friends, including Clive and Neighbor Andre, have agreed with SNL\’s decision and feel that children should never be brought into adult scuffles.

What SNL and my friends fail to take into account, however, is the \”etiology\” that led up to Katie Rich\’s comment RE: Barron.  Etiology is a clinical term that looks at the precursors or antecedent events (in causal order) that lead up to a disease or condition — in this case the seemingly casual disregard for Barron\’s feelings and that of his family.

I\’m wondering what kind of tweeting culture Ms. Rich has been exposed to?  Are there any other high profile tweeters who suggest and say disgusting and threatening things via tweet?? Just wondering…I mean, how many Latino children and families have been threatened over the past few months by someone\’s erstwhile tweets?

I read an article online the other day (probably fake news) that suggested that US has been responsible for 35 million deaths around the world since the end of WWII: military incursions, occupation forces, regime changes, forced starvation?  I\’m not sure how US did it — but I can\’t help but think that many of these casualties were children.  As we all know, however, \”all\’s fair in love and war.\”  And there seem to be war clouds gathering…

I wrote a little note to Katie Rich — hoping it helps her out of her dilemma:

Dear Katie,

I wrote a recantation some years back when it looked like the Clintons would regain the White House — and I wished to \”take back\” the terrible things I had said about them — because the Clintons have a way of getting even (as did the former Satan –Dick Cheney).  So, I don\’t blame you for recanting and apologizing as you\’ve done.  But I have to share with you that I have horrible visions of Nicholas II and his family (and not the sanitized Disney version either) every time I see a picture of the collected Trumps.  Who knows — perhaps your intuitive comment may save the day and set the family and country on a healthier, more constructive course…?

And this is why I want the fearless Pythons back!  I don\’t know of anyone else capable of delivering a savage ass-kicking that can get people who were once incapable of looking at themselves — to look at themselves.  Barron is just a \”Von\” away from being 3rd-in-line for the crown — unless Ivanka becomes queen — then it gets confusing…

I\’m hoping the Pythons aren\’t too old to get back-in-the-saddle — we need \’em to ride into Dodge forthwith!
