I asked my students the other day if it was overkill if I didn\’t want a Trump supporter to enter my home. How could anyone backing Trump not have some of the huge pile of shit stuck to them? And I, for one, don\’t like shit tracked through my home.
My students gave me their blessings to keep my home Trump free — and suggested that they felt the same way.
I\’m feeling for Adam Kinzinger — the Republican Illinois senator who voted against party to impeach Trump. Of course this is the only moral (and logical) course to take. But according to many members of his family — who published a letter they wrote to Adam denouncing his \”traitorous\” behavior — he should have voted otherwise.
But Adam is not a traitor to US or the Constitution; rather, he is a traitor to the likes of Hannity, Alex Jones, Laura Ingram and Rush Limbaugh.
I wonder if Adam didn\’t put Rush in his grave with his vote?
My Trumper Brother suggested that Rush Limbaugh was to him — as Karl Marx is to me. I can only give a long \”hmmmmmm…\” and empathize with Adam Z.
This country is well and truly polarized — and I am obviously part of the problem — as I sit firmly in the Never-Trumper camp! I no longer try to convince former friends and acquaintances that their allegiance to a would-be dictator is, well, pathetic. But the Cult of Trump is strong and will probably influence US politics until the American Hispanic becomes the majority ethnicity circa 2037. Things should change in Washington then…
But the Trumpers still try to seduce me into pointless discussions of vast conspiracies (and the legitimacy of QAnon) — I politely comment: No comment. I\’m not going there with you — I\’m steering clear of the stench.
Speaking of a real Stinker, I\’m sure Ted Cruz didn\’t lose a single vote in his attempt to escape the frigid Texas winter (which left millions without water and power) to Cancun. I asked my Trumper Mother if she\’d heard the news RE: Teddy C. She hadn\’t of course, because she watches the extremist Right Wing news media who censor their reports to keep senior Floridians (and other Republican retirees) ignorant of the facts and keep them on that one way of apprehending reality.
You\’d think someone from the Trump base would recognize Teddy for the hypocrite he is — but I won\’t hold my breath (for fear of asphyxia).
My sociology students just finished looking at August Comte\’s Law of Three Stages which sees the first and most primitive mode of thought believing that supernatural beings control events here on earth. You\’ve heard those early childhood explanations of the sounds and sights of a thunderstorm: that god and his angels are bowling (and lightening signifies someone getting a strike).
Well this is where the Trumpers do their thinking — which allows for easy manipulation whenever, and however, you play the god card.
Our situation is hopeless…unless…unless…unless we add a 3rd (and possibly 4th) party to our congressional mix. Then we might see some true coalitions forming and votes of no confidence when things get dodgey (like they\’ve been for the past 4 years).
Again, I won\’t hold my breath — because the Democrats are no more honest than the Republicans: The parting on the right is now a parting on the left…
So, until such time when a critical percentage of Americans woke (which could take till the next ice age [unless you can warm yourself in Cancun]) I see us in 2 camps: the Trumpers and the Never Trumpers — and I for one — do not wish to entertain Trumpers in my home — even if they be Mother and Brother…
