Cheaters Never…Wait a Cotton-Picking Minute!

January 24, 2020

As a long-starved Dodger fan — I was somewhat relieved by the news that the Houston Astros had to resort to cheating to defeat us in the 2017 World Series.  I\’m betting it was also a great relief to Clayton Kershaw, Yu Darvish and Brandon Morrow to learn, that perhaps, they hadn\’t pitched that badly.

The rest-of-us were left with \”red herrings\” as we tried to make sense of what had transpired:  Clayton got his usual \”choker\” moniker;  Yu was tipping his pitches; and Brandon, well he was \”pitched out\” because Dave Roberts had over-used him.

Who knows for sure what an honest series would have yielded — but if the Astros World Series win is allowed to stand (as it looks like it will) — then the message sent across the baseball world to many thousands of player is: that it\’s OK to cheat to win.  The Red Sox victory should also be vacated because Shifty Alex Cora was cheating in that series as well!

For shame Major League Baseball!  You have forever debased the sport!!

For shame Donald!  You have forever debased the office!!

Back-in-the-day — when the neighborhood kids held our pick-up games — if you didn\’t abide by the rules you were labeled a cheater — though the cheaters never looked at themselves as such.  What was worse was that the cheater was often the one who brought the cool equipment: Al Kaline bats and gloves; Gordie Howe hockey sticks and Alex Karras and Joe Schmidt signed footballs.

The cheater could always take his stuff and go home if we didn\’t let the play go his way.  So we all kinda engaged in a fugue state to keep playing with the good stuff.  (The definition of a fugue state is: a dissociative disorder and a rare psychiatric disorder characterized by reversible amnesia for personal identity, including the memories, personality, and other identifying characteristics of individuality — which we must assume that the Congressional Eunuchs are also currently experiencing in the wake of the Mt. Everest evidence presented on the Donald\’s cheatin\’ ways!)

The Ukraine episode aside, we know he cheated in school, in his businesses, on his taxes, on his wife and in his pursuit of the presidency — and his cheating has paid off — allowing him 3 years in the oval office and using the office of the US presidency to aggrandize his family!

Trump and his Eunuchs have normalized cheating…I can\’t wait to see how this plays out in the nation\’s educational institutions!

Things look bleak for any vestiges of morality left to US.  How does one teach right from wrong when wrong seems sooooo right — because it gets you what you want!

Will the worm ever turn?  Or, are we in a brave new world where cheaters get to prosper ad nauseum?!  In a nation of morals — the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox would be forced to vacate those titles!!

Alex Cora should be banned from the game for life — as should the Donald!!

I have never been a fan of Jonah Goldberg — but his 1/21 Op Ed. printed in my beloved Times knocked it out of the park!  Jonah described Trump as a person of low character (a cheater). J.G. finally gave me something to cheer about.  Way to go Jonah!!  Perhaps the worm is turning?

In-the-meantime — Bill Maher should generate a New Rule that gives the victory parade for the team that doesn\’t cheat in the World Series: We could have Two!

And what might the world look like if the Donald had not been allowed to cheat?!  We\’d certainly have cleaner water…
