I became quite incensed over recent media reports regarding autism and the rising number of incidences being reported around the country. This family-systems therapist saw a whole different kind of childhood autism in the mid-70s – and whatever this “designer disease” we’ve got going now – that serves as a vehicle for the pharmaceutical companies and the “kick back” medical doctors using children as their guinea pigs in the performance of chemical lobotomies – doesn’t even come close to comparing with the human tragedies I witnessed up close…what I would call REAL autism!
But, as anyone who observes socio-history should know — is that pathology, or mental disease, is most prevalent in bourgeois cultures that live off the surfeit of others. And since the bourgeois culture of the U.S. should be coming to a screeching halt relatively soon – courtesy of the Bushies and their oiligarchy – I thought I should write about something more important this evening than a cottage industry’s maiming of those children who won’t neatly drop into caricatures of Joe and Jane normal – more so Joe than Jane — but that is a discussion for another day.
My buddy, Big Steve C., says that I shouldn’t be worried about my retirement investment in the California State Teachers Retirement System. But I am worried. I’ve heard of (and seen) too many American who have worked all their lives for a single company get screwed RIGHT BEFORE they are due to collect on that pension. My other buddy, Big Mac (a financial advisor), tells me that Cal STRS is the largest pension fund in the world, and, as such, should be inviolate. I say: the bigger they are, the harder they fall!
Then I have Abi Ram Dass telling me that the American Dollar is worth less than it was during the Great Depression (Hell! Even super models don’t want to be paid in American Dollars any more!) – and that only the illusion of CREDIT – prevents Americans from realizing this. Then I have Fidel telling me that the U.S. (fronted by the Bushies) has entered into an agreement with the Canucks and Mexico to share a common currency called the Amero Dollar (did I get that spelling right?!). So…will my dollar…end up being equivalent to one peso? Help me on this – because I don’t have a head for numbers.
I just keep praying thatCalifornia will secede from the U.S., and yes, Arnie, chances are that you could become president, premier or prime minister of New California. Because when we hear the Washington rhetoric about democracy in this-or-that-country (duck-and-cover Pakistan) – we are really talking about capitalism and what the marketplace will bear! Hell! Some pundits suggest that capitalism replaced democracy in the U.S. circa 1780! But Cali, dear Cali – we might have the necessary and sufficient pluralism to survive the oncoming Bushie Depression. But we will have to close our borders…much like autistic children do…
