I\’ve just realized that the Trump Base, and anyone else who supports him, are \”terminal.\” In psychologese — \”terminal\” means that the patient is as hopeless as a-4th-stage-cancer-patient: No matter what the \”shrink\” says — the patient\’s mindset is as intractable as the cancer. The patient is headed down an unchanging path…that one-way road…no deviations…no U-turns…
I\’ve also recently realized that the Trump Base sees themselves in him: he is the perfect reflection of their hate; their prejudice; and, their general FOX NEWS (and FOX 5) brainwashing! To this day, I marvel at the power of FOX NEWS conditioning — which is apparently assisted by the aforementioned psychoanalytic concept called \”transference\” — whereby the patient believes his/her therapist is of similar mind and shares the patient\’s world view. FOX NEWS has facilitated and continues to facilitate this unholy transference.
And this is why I must warn my brethren about not taking the bait when attempting to reason with a FOX Gollum: the cult of personality surrounding ol\’ Pumpkinhead captures, at-a-minimum, 33% of US! These Trumpphiles have become rather adept at baiting the \”argument\” hook with one liners and sheep-like \”Baas\” in the forms of: \”lock her up\” and \”fake news\” and \”build that wall\”: they will reel-you-in and leaving you gasping for breath. FOXphiles seem to enjoy this type of fishing because they are like The Incredible Hulk — they become stronger and fight you harder when you resist being landed: your resistance, of course, is confronting them with facts, logic and timelines.
So I am proposing that NOT taking the bait will weaken them and consequently turn them into mild mannered Bruce Banners.
But this tact of not taking debate, er, the bait — could work against US. When those fish just aren\’t biting, extreme fisherman have been known to dynamite the waters to bring up their catch. We have seen that this type of fishing has been embraced by FOXphiles — who have no qualms suggesting that incidents like the Sandy Hook Massacre are fake news.
Another example of blowing fish out of the water would be the treatment California receives at the hands of Pumpkinhead\’s administration and the Trumpphiles: they no longer display their jealousy towards California (the place everyone wants to live); instead — because of their sheep-like obedience to those Hezbollah one liners — the Trumpphiles now openly state that all Californians are pinko liberals — ruled by a decadent Hollywood elite (whose asses were kicked in the Trump victory). Perhaps a few big- name Evangelicals would absolve of US of our sins — particularly if we asked for forgiveness…
Another old therapist trick used to change a patient\’s behavior is the \”paradox\” — but this requires an added level of skill to pull off with a psych patient — that most-of-US don\’t possess. The paradox requires the patient to realize that they are holding two very contradictory ideas in their head — like: Trump is NOT making America great again like he promised: the Carrier layoffs are an example. For the paradox to work, Trumpphiles would have to SEE that America is actually weakening under his reign.
But then that problem of transference between Trumpphiles and their leader re-emerges:
After a dearth of White House sexual intrigue with the likes of the Dubya and Obama — we see ol\’ Pumpkinhead on a better-than-JFK track (and serious improvement over Slick Willie) — so that many of his Base fantasize that the Trump women are their conquests as well.
Friend Clive and I have decided that we will not be able to watch Pumpkinhead\’s State of the Union address tomorrow …we simply can\’t do it…it would be too painful…too embarrassing…we\’d feel like fish out of water…
