As people like Bill Maher and Michael Hiltzik continue to impress-the-Hell-out-of-me and say all-of-the-things that I am saying (or wish to say) much better than I can – I have become less bold in writing about public matters, and, seem to be emphasizing private matters: like dealing with my own angst (or that of my sons). A wise woman recently informed me that, as parents, we are only as happy as the least happy of our children. Ouch! This then, is the eternal dilemma of the wannabe writer: should you engage in one or the other; or, try to blend both the public and private approach?
That said – I think I want to go a bit more “public” on this attempt — as I feel my psychological background allows me to say a little bit more than the layman regarding my observations of Obama. And if anyone is offended by my continued use of the president’s surname, well, it’s because I don’t really feel that he’s-done-much-of-anything-presidential, and, I don’t like the feel of B-A-R-A-C-K in my mouth.
Anyone who has read my stuff from-this-time-four-years-ago will recall that I predicted Obama’s assassination should he gain the presidency. I was quite wrong (thankfully) about this! But after watching and listening to Obama over the past few months, and then his spiritless effort in the recent debate with Romney, I feel I can safely say that Obama is “out of gas”…he’s got nothing left to give… Hell! Obama doesn’t even seem like he wants the job anymore!
Those of us who watch presidents in office – particularly the two-termers – see them visibly age before our very eyes. It was easy to see with Bill Clinton and Dubya – though Dubya probably shouldn’t have aged like other two-termers — what with his lower IQ and the amount of “shielding” he had from his advisors: he couldn’t have been experiencing that much stress!
Meanwhile, Obama definitely looks like he’s aged – his speeches no longer have that pre-presidency vitality: when he got many Americans (including myself) hoping for change. Republican Brother Paul has suggested that Obama has kicked out 933 executive orders in his first (and perhaps only) term. I gather that this figure may be close to the executive orders kicked out by all the other American presidents combined! If this be true – no wonder poor Obama is fatigued, and at times, seemingly bewildered and at-a-loss-for-words: I sure-as-Hell could not remember the content of 933 executive orders – particularly when some of his best writers and advisors have moved on to better pastures.
Brother Paul also sent me a video from a news program in Denmark that showed Obama meeting with many foreign heads of state and characterizing our relationship with each country with the same boxing analogy: it didn’t matter if it was Angela Merkel; the queen of Denmark; or, the leader of Pakistan…each world leader (and her/his country) was described as having exactly the same punching power!?
Obama IS out of gas! There is nothing left in his teleprompter tank! What can Obama do for us in the next 4 years? He has added a record amount to our national debt…and to think that Joe Biden is a mere heartbeat away (should Obama win again) of smearing that shit-eating grin across the world psyche (you know – the one we saw as Joe ‘debated’ Paul Ryan). Joe wouldn’t put any gas in our nationally bankrupt tank. Of course neither will Romney/Ryan.
Yep. With Obama’s tank running dry – we have run out of choices…how long can we run on empty?
