Letters to the Editor

I’m getting back into the saddle again!  It’s quite difficult for Cancers to go through major changes, and maintain their equilibrium.  We’re used to the rhythm of the tides.  If we go against them – we can get quite off-kilter.

So, I feel like I may indeed make this Sunday’s deadline.  Publisher Arash (having just purchased a new home as well) – is also off-balance – thus, he probably won’t bitch much with this late edition of 8/3.

Thanks to Dave and Tami for all-of-their-constructive feedback to keep the grey cells juiced and flowing – though I KNOW that Tami A. is a much better writer than I am (as is my brother); but I simply need to commit certain sentiments, hobgoblins and hemorrhoidal concerns to print — for my own therapy…

…which leads me to the “Letters to the Editor” theme of this here missive.  So many articulate and eloquent folks write letters to my beloved L.A. Times – that I wonder why we continue to live in the throes of our U.S. police state?!  I mean – there are plenty of people who seem to know exactly what is going on (if I read between the lines of ‘their Letters’ correctly) – so why do we put up with the bullshit of this interminable Oiligarchy which we live under?!

I can only surmise that it is because the Oiligarchy cleverly enlists the dull and under-educated to perpetuate their propaganda.  It’s ye olde: “United we stand and divided we fall” thang.  The Oiligarchy has unity in its message: Love us or leave us – while the American Intelligensia are easily divided in their myriad contemplations and distractions: a general paranoia pervades US…are U one of them, or one of U.S.?

Certainly I am jealous of the folks who get printed in my beloved Times – because I think I may have only had two letters printed in The Times over the years, one in the Sports Letters, and the other in The Calender section (or so my friends tell me; because I never saw my response to the first “Lord of the Rings” [wondering where the Hell Tom Bombadil was?!]).

Wowsa!  Here I thought I was pumping out a 500-word essay and I notice that I have a word counter in the bottom corner of my screen – which tells me that I am only at 392 with that last number.  Well…much like the many letters I have sent to the my beloved Times, and, all the folks that seem to be saying something important — we get cut off at-the-mast by those true, red-white-and-blue Americans who are united in Mom, apple-pie, Cheverolet and Budweiser (which is now owned by a foreign concern) as…as…as…well, by God, as conspiracy theorists!

And that is the answer by all bumbling sycophants for any thought “outside the box”: “Oh.  So you’re a conspiracy theorist, eh?”  Like there has never been a conspiracy worth merit in human history?!  But I am beginning to think that my beloved Times has conspired to keep me out of their pages…
