Penn State is Buggered

July 25, 2012

I gather that men of means have been buggering young (and older) boys for millennia.  I have no clue of the origin point, but one pedophile (whom I almost throttled the life out of – and subsequently had to remove myself from the therapy session) suggested that buggering a youth was the ultimate expression of love?!  I have to disagree.  My psychologist’s reaction to pedophilia and buggering is that they are perverted displays of power that can be rationalized by the perpetrator to be whatever he wants it to be.

The Greeks did it.  The Romans did it.  Priests and boy scout leaders do it; and, we know that the incarcerated do it (in fact, the number one theme of the relatively recent movie “Big Stan” — was to stop prison rape and save assholes).  It seems that kite runners can get “it” as well – through the disguised intentions of assistant football coaches (Hell! His own wife pleaded ignorance) who sponsor disenfranchised youth and exercise that perverted notion of power just alluded to.  But this essay will not be a foray into the psychological underpinnings of buggering, but rather, on the NCAA’s buggering of Penn State University and the Penn State football program.

I get vacating 14 years of wins.  I get Jo Pa having to give up all-those-gridiron-victories.  I even get the $60 million fine levied against Penn State (some folks suggest that it should have been $100 mil).  What I don’t get is smashing the current program to bits.  As one sports’ pundit suggested – the current Penn State players were in kindergarten when Sandusky began his serial rapes and another pointed out that these selfsame players have now become victims for the crimes of others.

So, there have been sins of commission (Sandusky) and sins of omission (Jo Pa), and, it looks like Sandusky got what he deserves and will get plenty more of what he deserves in the “other” Big House (don’t forget that Big Stan suggested that it was OK to bugger child molesters).  Jo Pa’s rapid decline and subsequent death following his departure from Penn State football suggest that he did carry the weight of his sins for 14 years.

A sin of omission is one in which you know an immoral act is being perpetrated upon a being incapable of defending him/herself, and, you do nothing to rescue the defenseless party and allow the abuse to carry on.  It appears that others above Jo Pa were made aware of the abusive situation by Jo Pa himself and also elected to turn a blind eye and are now receiving their comeuppance as Penn State is truly taking it up the ass!

It looks like it’s really hurting and going to hurt for some time to come (particularly if ‘SC can get that star running back): which reminds me of a heroin dealer I once knew — who did 2-and-a-half-years in Jackson State and needed to carry an air cushion around with him wherever he went; or, even Tim Allen — who developed his comedy in the State Pen (Pen State [get it?]) to avoid being buggered.

Yep – it all seems to have a grand, Karmic ring to it…but I will miss those Nittany Lions in the Autumn Time…Hell!  I don’t even think lions bugger their own – the alpha male just drives those younger lads off to fend for themselves…I guess the alpha male disenfranchises the younger males with that whole survival of the fittest thang?  Which begs the question: Is buggering a by-product of civilization??
