The Principle of Thirds Revisited

March 28, 2023

I\’m getting quite tired of the anti-vaxers and pro-vaxers vacuous arguments with neither side understanding the simple Principle of Thirds and how this principle governs how humans are affected by drugs.

Simply put, 1/3 of all people taking a medication (like a vaccine) will see the medication address the problem at the cellular level with the result the particular medication was designed to produce: enabling the pharmaceutical payday!

Another 1/3 of the populous taking the medication, however, will have the placebo effect — meaning that the sugar pill — combined with the power of the mind — will either see this group saying they feel better (believing the medication has warded off the disease/condition) — or, that the vaccine must be working (while the medication has accomplished nothing at the cellular level!)!  Indeed, and this is the kicker, when dealing with pharmaceutical companies and their \”clinical\” trials of medications — the placebo (the sugar pill) often does as-well-as, or even better at \”curing\” the disease/condition than the medication they intend to pedal!  (That\’s \’the power of the mind\’ piece.)

Finally, we have the third group that experiences an allergic reaction (and possible death) as a consequence of the medication.

Have you ever wondered why you have to fill out that lengthy medical questionnaire when you first visit a medical doctor\’s office, particularly, the question that asks: Are you allergic to any medications??  Not to forget the disclaimers given for pharmaceutical products that are advertised on television!

The answer is that medication that is supposed to help all can kill many.

The hospital (the symbol of modern medicine)  kills 25 out-of-every one hundred visitors to it. Hospitals DO cure 50 of the hundred patients (the other 25 were going to die of their affliction anyway.)  I\’m not sure I like these odds.  If I understand probability — modern medicine has a 25% chance of killing me if I engage it.

I passed on my recently scheduled colonoscopy because I\’ve learned that the hospital can kill you with even this simple procedure.  (They almost killed me with my hip replacement!)  I have consequently asked my family doctor to give me the annual poop test in lieu of this surgical procedure where a team of strangers fusses with my butthole while I\’m unconscious.

What confuses me even more is this tetanus vaccine!?  Twice in my childhood I stepped on rusty nails and each time was administered the rather painful tetanus shot to prevent getting tetanus.  Why on earth would I want a tetanus vaccine?  Will it stop me from stepping on a rusty nail?  (I\’ve learned to avoid rusty nails in my adulthood.)

And I\’ll never forget the Hell I experienced after my swine flu vaccination back in 1977.  I would have much rather had the swine flu — at least whiskey would have cured that (and spared me 2 weeks of agony, replete with delusional thinking).

I have heard staggering figures on the number of inoculations children receive so they can mingle with other members of society.

Amazing that we have to be inoculated to this life to live it…sounds crazy, doesn\’t it?

Choose your poison!  Are you an anti-vaxer with all things — or a selective-vaxer?  Or, are you a sometimes-vaxer with regards to certain viruses or conditions?

And before I let you go — have you ever wondered who the pharmaceutical companies do their medical trials on?
