I started this attempt over-four-weeks ago…but the damned news cycle — currently featuring an impeachment inquiry and silly democratic debates– has kept me from focusing on gun violence…
We\’ve known that gun-related killings in this country have been out-of-control for a very long time now (an annual average of 30,000+ for as-many-years as \’they\’ve\’ been counting): American casualties number in the millions! Certainly a large city of 2 million+ has been shot-to-death over the past four decades. And the witless rhetoric defending the Second Amendment has become so redundant and pathetic that it makes one want to vomit (at least it does me!).
For Chrissakes — the amendment was formulated 228 years ago: when the musket ruled and Americans had to put occupying British forces up in their homes. I doubt anyone foresaw the AK-47 (somehow this ‘point in history’ argument doesn’t work well for LGBTQs’ trying to get equal rights).
Of course one should be able to own a gun for home defense and hunting — though I think it\’s high time we took to virtual hunting. No need to hunt anything living — particularly elephants.
So the way I see it — the NRA — and every single congressional member who hasn\’t taken a stand on universal background checks or maximum penalties for gun-related violence is in favor of, and are accessories to, the shooting of children!
I don\’t think any of my Readers will judge me harshly on this particular contention — because they know it to be true…true by virtue of a concept known as co-dependency…
I was very pleased to hear recent contributors to my beloved Times Letters\’ section talking about enabling (because that is what co-dependency is all about!). It took a few years for a former colleague to get the concept of co-dependency hammered into my brain — but she finally succeeded.
Co-dependencyusually occurs in the arena of addiction — but has applications beyond that. Simply put — if you are in a relationship with an addict — you are probably doing something to enable and maintain their substance usage.
So, too, with gun ownership.
The NRA; purchased Congress members; AND, the military industrial complex have ahellova cluster fuck going on — with each enabling the other. This is the only time the largely Republican Congress gets a hard-on – since they are otherwise, Dickless!! Congress doesn\’t enact any gun control constraints; the munitions manufacturers continue to make their millions; and, the NRA somehow rides them both! (An aside: most gun-related deaths dealt world-wide are performed with American hardware!

Zero-regulation gun supporters are all in favor of shooting children — there, I\’ve said it twice.
What type of human being puts gun ownership above the lives of succeeding generations? Or are such savages so sure of their genetic propagation that they think they\’re immortal?
The generations inheriting this fucked-up Earth we\’ve bequeathed them have already reacted to the climate catastrophe. The young Swedish girl (Greta),who organized an international protest RE: Global Warming, got the idea for her cause from viewing American students walking out of school to protest school shootings. And now it appears that our very brave young spokespeople against gun violence have been done in by the very same news cycle that I complained about earlier…
What are US leading US to? We seem to be barreling down a blind alley — with Trump firing his AK 47 at will…
