I wanted to get another piece in before the election and actually “do” this piece before the election – but my college students are keeping me pretty busy – and I don’t seem to have that same get-up-and-go as I had before I became semi-retired…in other words: if I feel a nap coming on – I take it!
Plus, since I haven’t voted in-12-years-or-so (ever since the first Bush Coup) – I felt no pressing desire to influence anyone’s vote one-way-or-another. Some folks (like my mother) say I had better not complain about anything if I don’t vote – but I have to remind them (and her) that not voting allows you to bitch about both sides. Others suggest that the right-to-vote is what democracy is all about. But since the belief that we live in a democracy has been conditioned; I prefer to break out of the brainwashing and exercise what little freedom I have left and not vote! We live in capitalist police state in case You didn’t know.
So now I hope I’ve set-the-table for some Romney and Obama bashing; since Obama didn’t run out of gas like it seemed he was going to do (though he might be running just on fumes at this juncture).
If Romney had made it to the presidency – I fear US would have headed back to some hybrid of the dark ages and a future only a few could afford. I saw Roe vs. Wade going by the wayside and many more car elevators being added to the homes of the rich – making at least one car elevator company fabulously wealthy and back-street abortions back in vogue. The only two elements of Romney’s campaign that stood out for me were: Mitt was going to help small businesses grow and somehow add 12 million jobs to cut the 23-and-a-half-million unemployed figure in half; and, his incessant suggestion that we are somehow worse off under Obama than we were under King George. The exquisite irony is that much of America’s unemployment has to do with white men of Romney’s ilk: these are the men who outsource and allow giant corporations to buy up the Mom & Pop stores. I’m really not sure what the fuck Romney was campaigning on?! Obama inherited the massive unemployment figure! Did US deserve a Mitt Romney outcome? Apparently not: because the female and minority vote managed to defeat the old, white man’s vote.
Not that anything will be better under Obama – I mean this guy has got us to the highest, steepest fiscal cliff faster than any other president in history! It seems that Obama can spend money we don’t have better than Reagan; Papa Bush; or, even King George and Cheney! We went from $11 trillion low — to $16.4 trillion in under 4 years; and now, both Hitlery and Geithner wish to resign. Hitlery I’m sure is getting ready to run for the presidency in 2016 – when Monica is a dim memory and Bill will definitely be the Grand Pappy elder statesman of the Democratic Party; while Geithner knows that the shit is really, really, really gonna hit the fan! I fear that all we’ll get from the next Obama stint is a raised debt ceiling and more rhetorical smoke and mirrors about how things are getting better – which is apparently what US truly deserve: more La La Land – more pass the duchy (or is it ‘dutchie’?) to the left-hand side.
Like a radio economist validated (at least for me) – this whole country is living on credit and Obama will merely perpetuate that…unless…unless…unless he really raises taxes; quits spending; and, institutes a 2-year conscription for all American high school graduates. If U drop out of high school – you will have to serve in the army until you are 20 (no one else yet realizes the importance of conscription to US being well).
Create 12 million new jobs? My ass! Killed Osama bin Laden? Bullshit! Really care about the little man in your monstrous Mormon clan? I fucking doubt it! Reach across the aisle to mutually solve US problems, after you had four years already? Not bloody likely, particularly when you are running on empty and many of your rats have already jumped your sinking ship.
OK, Obama. We got you again and I guess you are what US deserve! So I will try to get my garden going, and, I am bracing myself to be robbed of my hard earned money – but I guess if we are all being robbed together – then we have achieved true socialism! But Dude, do something about all these people living in nice homes for…for…for free! Or do only non-voters like myself have to pay their mortgages?
