Whirlpool

June 12, 2013

Before unveiling any new poetry, I decided to go with an ancient lyric (circa 1982) that has music to go with it that just about everyone likes.  Even Giti (an avowed hater of ‘rock’) enjoys this piece; and, everyone has been encouraging me to do a You Tube video for it.

Whirlpool

How can I find tomorrow

When I’m still lost in today?

Going round; going round; going round; going round…

The choices we have are endless

But there’s no one to show you the way

Going down, going down, going down, going down…

Kiss the dawn goodbye, my silent melancholy friend

As the dusk creeps softly by-and-by, drawing all things to their end

The swirling twilight leads us astray and pulls us from our hearts

From the sum of the whole we twist away, becoming different parts

So ride the Sun, the waves of light

If only for one day

Close your eyes and ride to your heart

When all things fade away

So throw away all your false gods

And follow the rays of the sun

You’ll rise up from the depths of this whirlpool

And let thy kingdom come; and let thy kingdom come; and let thy kingdom come…
